Temple balcony: Free khmer dance show in Siem Reap

by mariayoshiko

There is a traditional khmer dance show every night at this place located on PUB STREET in central Siem Reap. The show starts at 8.30pm and lasts for an hour. You could just go in watch the show standing, the staff is so nice they will never bother you. But my advice is that you have at least a draft beer, it's US$0.75! Absolutely casual

Temple Club: Fusion Entertainment

by liveactlife

You dont have to pay extra to watch the apsara dance for free. the performance is for the earlier parts of the night only.plus, if you come early you could have the dinner buffet served upstairs.a range of local cuisine dishes. i dont really remember how much, but it's still affordable for a backpacker:) seats at the balcony would give you good views of the throngs of tourists strolling at pub street. Second hand bookstore is also nearby.

Giddy Gecko lounge/bar/pub: A classy little lounge in Siem Reap

by Madamsharon

GIDDY GECKO BAR/LOUNGEAfter we had spent most of the day climbing around the remarkable temples of Angkor Wat and Bayan, we had a late afternoon dinner on the balcony of the Soup Dragon Resturant on Pub Street. Then we explored the entire area and found ourselves in sort of a dark alley right behind the Temple Club. There we took quite some time and relaxed and visited with the owners of this uniquely decorated Giddy Gecko lounge/bar/pub which is one of Siem Reap's newest.Giddy Geco offered a full range of drinks and juices plus we had a chance to experience apple flavored water pipes - we think these are the only water pipes in Siem Reap. Since we are sorta "over the hill" and my husband had lugged his laptop all around for hours, he was happy to relax and read his emails. Late in the evening we got hungry again and asked for a food menu. We were able to order a great pizza from across...

martini: Pnon phen

martini bar and sharky are the two places you want to visit, do not go to svay pak, the police will love nothing more that arrest a farang there. It was a place where pedo used to go and even if you are after a 50yold the police still thing you are a pedo just because you are there.

Many: Bars along the FCC stretch (tonlesap river)

by cigarettebarbie

Many bars offering an array of things. Alcohol or dosh. watch out for happy hour prices. angkor beer at 50cents. casual. i was in my shorts and birks the whole time. but of course, im female and i can get away with murder.

ZoneOne: Boogie with the locals

by chrissycat

Want to hang out with the local disco crowd? Check out ZoneOne which is about 5-10 min from the old market. It has disco, Karoake, Massage centre and Beer garden..yes, all in one! try one of the snacks at the beer garden (it's made of lamb, cant remember the name) it is absolutely delicious!if disco dancing and karoake is not your kind of thing, stop nearby the old market, where the red piano is ( yes, angelina jolie was there before) many pubs and restuarants where you can chill out and unwind. Except for zoneone, u can wear slipper to any of the pubs and restaurants around old market area.

Laundry Bar: Chill and Cool

by Sarah203

This funky place had a great atmosphere with slides of the local people flashing on the walls. The comfy lounge spots make a perfect place to relax with a drink. The music is a little more techno than the other spots in town. In the late hours, this place really gets crowded with an interesting crew.

Angkor What?: A slice of NYC

by Sarah203

This dark cavernous bar is good place to meet fellow travelers and listen to good hip hop and rock music. There is a pool table in the back but it was difficult to get a game. The graffittied bare concrete walls reminded me of a hip place usually found on the lower east side.

Equinox: New venue in Phnom Penh

by marco76

Equinox has opened just 3 month ago, so it's not yet referenced by the lonely planet. It's located in the st 278, which is getting quite popular with local expats lately. The place is quite suprising at first, as you enter downstairs in a large room with a pool table, a proper foosball table (quite exceptional in phnom penh) but no bar !For that you have to go upstairs, where you come trough a painting gallery featuring the work of a local artist. The young khmer painter does also some nice clothing, so it's perfect if you plan to go out with your girlfriend ;)The bar is on a large balcony, nicely designed. An attractive young khmer girl behind the bar serves beer and cocktails for a fair price. And apparently, there is also a small hair salon opening soon in the place !Warmly recommended

Siem Reap: Angkor Mundial Restaurant: Khmer dances

by sachara

In several restaurants in Siem Reap are cultural performances of classical Khmer dance. Most striking are the apsara (meaning heavenly nymphs) dances. We visited the Angkor Mundial Restaurant for a performance. The apsara dance is unique to Cambodia. The Thais with their resembling dances learnt originally their techniques from these Khmer dances. Characteristic for the apsara dances are the stylished hand movements, the stupa-like head-wear, the lamé costumes and the smiles without showing the teeth. Except the apsara dances we saw also Cambodian folkdances and a dance with a mask.
