Red Piano: Siem Reap Food Drink

by northernbaldy

Many of the bars & restaurants in Siem Reap are centred around what the locals refer to as Pub Street or Bar Street. It's very easy to find and relatively inexpensive for tourists. After trying many of the places on the street, one of the more well known called Red Piano proved to be the best. The food is fine and pints of Tiger are USD1Neighbouring bars serve pints of local beer for USD0.50 but paying that bit extra is worth it.

Hotel De La Paix - Lobby Bar: Nice Chill Out Bar

by vigi

There wasn't much nightlife in Siem Reap. We tried to check out bars in the bar street and a disco recommended by friend, but it wasn't open due to electricity broke down (black out). We decided to return back toour hotel lobb lounge for a drink. Actually, this place is very comfortable. Having the same owner as "Bed Supper Club" in Bangkok, they have the same concept... you can lie on the big sofa bed while having your drink and chatting with friends!

Zanzybar - Siem Reap.: Massage Bar

by travelswithsteve

Open fronted bar thats been there for over 10 years and run by a crazy Frenchman.Opens evenings only until whenever he wants to close.Great place to stand at the bar, have a cold beer (forget food) and have your back and shoulders massaged.Well run, no hassles arguements or touts. Just about anything.

Angkor Hotel: The old Angkor Hotel hosts cultural dances

by atufft

I checked the theater box because this is the best choice in this situation. Actually though Khmer entertainment is a combination of music and dance that present traditional folk story themes. The dinner and dance combination is presented outside, so prepare for the possbility of pesty mosquitoes on a hot evening. The flute, string, and percussion music is difficult for Westerners' to understand but is best understood in the context of the danceform presented. The stage and lights are very professional. Casual warm weather clothes are recommended. It's pretty upscale, so wearing tank tops may be too casual. Besides, the insects might bite.

Deadfish Cafe: some drinks and live music and...

by tsaojam

This was an interesting little bar with a guy that pounded away at the keyboards behind the bar...a pretty good Cambodian version of Ray Charles. The bar had comfortable mats and an upper level to chill out, have drinks and some food at. They have a suicide shot that is a mix of Vodka, Sambuca, and Tequila or something like that, chased down by tomato juice with about two tablespoons of tobasco. But the most interesting thing about this place was the pit of crocodiles in the back by the restroom. That's right, there's a little gated area in the back with about 20 crocodiles. Bar + alcohol + drunk people + crocodiles. I think this is the only bar of its kind and I wonder how many accidents have happened. Anything...as long as there's no blood or raw meat scent on it.

Deadfish Cafe: The suicide drink

by tsaojam

This was the so-called suicide shot that they have at the bar, some mixture of Sambuca, Vodka, Tequila, or whatever...you chase it down with tomato juice spiked with at least two tablesppons of tobasco so you can set your stomach on fire twice.

Karaoke: Karaoke in Kampot

by Tartuffi

As there is no such thing as nightlife in the small town of Kampot, singing the Karaoke is just the ultimate nighttime entertainmenr. Ask your local guide or any motodup and have a singalong with the local. BIG FUN! none

Enjoy the day: what the night offers

by richiecdisc

We found it a bit harrowing walking the streets of Phnom Penh by night. It was very dark and the motto drivers wore masks presumably to protect themselves from fumes though the effect was to make them more menacing when harassing you for a fare. After one nighttime trek across town, we stayed in our local market area and only had to contend with the occasional rat on our short walk home. Other cities seemed much safer though the main attraction, especially at the beach town of Sihanoukville was prostitution and since that was not of interest to us, we tended to have a meal and hit the sack early. With great beaches and inexpensive cafes right on them, it seemed the smart thing to do. Free lounge chairs and shade providing umbrellas were just one attraction as the surprisingly had good beer to boot. ABC Stout is a Singaporean import of unusual richness, with a robust roasty bitterness and...

Heart of Darkness: Where the Expats Go

by Gage17

When we first arrived at the Heart of Darkness, there wasn't much of a crowd, but I did notice the nice faux-Angkor decor and cool lighting. We went next door to Howie's Bar (which is also a great place) for a couple drinks while lounging around before returning to the Heart of Darkness which had picked up with the later hours. There's a pool table, dancing to American music, old expats men and young Cambodian girls. It was just a random, fun time.

bars/restaurants

by Maximilian21

I was really suprised how good the night life was in Phnom Penh. Fine there was no ministry of sound but it has a decent hip hop scene and also chilled out bars and cafes are in a plenty, particluarly near the lakeside. There are also some great restuarants which are naturally very cheap.
