The heart of darkness nightclub: Nightclub

Probabaly my pic of the nightclubs in Phnom Penh. Its probabaly not what most people are used to and if your thinking soho then dont go there. You wont find any plush decor or the likes ,you will find a good night out with decent music till the early hours of the morning ( behind closed doors though). Occasionally you may see some guys who might walk in with some weapons but in all honesty there preety harmless and i think its a bit more for show. No dress code

Heart of Darkness: An all nighter!

I had read conflicting information about this bar so I had no idea what to expect. It was quite unassuming on the outside. Once we entered I was impressed from the first minute I walked in the door. It was decorated in a gothic style - lots of red and black but done tastefully. It was mostly travelers and expats with a few local prostitutes mixed in. The music ranged from classic rock, dance, hard rock, rap. It was a good mixture. The dance floor isn't very large and it got a bit crowded but I loved all the intimate seating areas with pillows everywhere. They only knew basic drinks here. I couldn't get a vodka sour, margarita or anything similiar so I guess you have to stick with drinks that are easy to make! We partied from 11 pm to 4:00 am and the place was still going strong. I don't think they had one.

Ginger Monkey is a chill spot near the river. Always has good music and good people. The crowd is more of the younger ex -pat NGO workers, teachers and volunteers but also a place where backpackers chill away from the lake. No dress code...this is a chill spot.

Visiting a night club in Cambodia is a really weird, but nevertheless fun, experience. Once you enter you're immediately 'attacked' by 20 or so beer girls trying to sell you their product. On stage there was a Khmer girl band consisting of four barely dressed teenage girls singing local pop songs with occasional Karaoke attempts by one of the guests.The strangest experience, however, was the bathroom visit. There is one guy whose only job is to open the door for you. So i entered the room and went to the pissoir. I opened the zipper and was about to start when i suddenly felt two hands on my shoulders. First i was rather shocked, but then i realised that the beer price includes a 'toilet massage'. When you're finished this night club employee will also wash and dry your hands. That's what i call service.This was the place where i spent my 24th birthday. none

Martini's: A Local Club

This is where the locals go to dance local music. The Kmer songs range from traditional to hip hop or trance. All of course in Kmer.It's a great way to see the local customs. However, please note that the girls that tend to attend this place are workers. Therefore not recommended for a single female to go in there alone. The locals might misinterpret your intentions. Casual but neat. The Cambodians are dressed nicely. Girls wear jeans and a nice top.

Heart of Darkness (Phnom Penh)

One of the few "western-style" clubs in PP. The area around is not very inviting, as there is not much public lighting and is rather dark... so the place is really in "the heart of Darkness"!! LOLOf course the name comes from the Conrad's novel, later adapted to cinema by Coppola as "Apocalypse now".It opens at 19 and stays open after midnight...Good music.

The Rose Bar: Nightlife

If you like a small bar with cheap drinks and a good atmosphere then this place is really good. Its got a really good set up with really friendly staff working there. It has free pool and you can also have something to eat aswel.Its a good friendly crowd but i wouldnt really take my girlfrind there as its aimed towards the male crowed although i did see some girls with there boyfriends a couple times. Anything goes

To me i think hearts was abit over rated. But If you like going to clubs with all tourists in there then this is for you. Its not to big but has 2 rooms with one of them a dance floor and one a bar. Anything goes
