A backpack would be the best. Casual dressing is the code of the day. The weather is pretty hot all year round (but less humid than Singapore!). Boots or covered shoes would be a good idea as the roads in Cambodia are mostly not paved, full of potholes and very muddy when it rains! Try not to wear anything white cos they will just turn yellow or orange as the roads are extremely dusty! If you're going to visit the Angkor monuments, it's a good idea to apply and bring along your insect repellant. You should also get your malaria shot, tetanus and hepatitus shots before going to Cambodia. Check with your local doctor for any other advice.

An elastic "water bottle" (e.g. from "Platypus") can make a nice pillow for those long trips A hammock! Take some adhesive tools for your mosquito net with you: needle & strings; blue-tack or pins,... If you have a scanner & a printer: scan a passport photograph and make some copies - cheap & easy!
Oil of lavender - stops mosi bites hurting (almost instantanious releif). Cloves - for toothache (put the clove on the tooth and suck). Ginger (boiled in water. drink the water as you would tea) - for stomach upsets. bananas - eat a couple to stop diahorehha. papaya - eat one to stop constipation.
Wear shorts and cotton clothes.bring your cap, or you can buy a traditional hat for 1 usd. Bring Medicin for the stomach, because the food is very differet. Professional Camara will be the best, is an Inscredible place to use it. SUNBLOCK, is a MUST! You will have to take a shower 3 TIMES A DAY!, is very HOT and WET.
Try not to bring white-coloured clothing as the red dust shows up most on these. Best would be yellow/orange/red tones (good in pictures too!) and generally lightweight wear. If you are washing your clothes as you go, the water tends to be yellow and residual. Bring a small first-aid kit for bumps, bruises & light scratches obtained during your climbs up the stone temples...especially if u r as clumsy as i am :DIn general - antiseptic cream, insect repellent, antibiotics, diarhhea pills and a couple of band aids should be sufficient. Bring lots of film/batteries/enough Mbs(digicams). Never underestimate the photo opportunities in Angkor :)
Take your own antibiotics with you. There are plenty of pharmacy, and they have plenty of medecine in it, but they won't give you the box - just the meds piece by piece. You won't be sure of what it is, nor what is the expiracy day. I was lucky, though, as I got the right ones for a bad cold I contracted back in Vietnam - I still marvel at how lucky I was, but next time I'll pack my things at the outset.

You would know best yourself.... I was caught off guard travelling from Battambang to Poipet when the weather changes from Hot to cold. It was really chilly that the aircon in the taxi was not as cold as outsite air. I would suggest to bring along a sweater if you are travelling around dry session around December.... As a guy no problem... :) You will need a lot of films, as I know a girl which I met she took a total of 4 rolls just in Angkor and I took a total of 250+ photos on my digital camera. Anti-Insect spray or something as there can be a lot of mosquito at some times.
Take your usual backpack.. it'll be easier to move around.. simple cotton wear is perfect.. although the weather gets a bit hot, it is better not to wear anything too revealing.. bring good walking shoes.. quite a lot of climbing required in angkor wat as there are some extremely steep steps.. bring along some medicine for diarrhoea.. i got food poisoning on my second day there.. it'll be great if you have some special filters to capture the sunset and sunrise in angkor wat.. bring lots of usd$1 notes.. you can pay in usd$ and normally get cambodian riels as change.. so, you don't want to get too much Riels back..

a backpack is best. Sandals and athletic shoes, leave the fancy dress shoes at home. bring some light pants, shorts and lotsa t-shirts. Cambodia is year round hot! you might want an umbrella in the wet season, or you can buy them there for very little money. Take alot of pictures, film is cheap and easy to find in P.Penh and Siem Reap, or if your coming by air from Bangkok, film is also very reasonable there. To my knowledge Camping isnt really a concept yet here, the area's with alot of wilderness, still have possiblely the last tigers, river dolphins, and bears in the area, but many of these area's also contain mines from the war. But hopefully they can remove the mines and protect the forests, rivers at the same time. some people take malaria meds, some dont, its up to you. I personally got about 40 bites, and I didnt die or fall ill, but it only takes 1.
