Ivy Bar: An array of options

by Sarah203

This open bar has beautiful pictures depicting Cambodia in all it's glory. The bar has a nice feel and it is comfortable to have a good meal or just a beer. There were a lot of choices but the pasta primavera was a good fusion of italian and local asian spices. There were a lot of vegetarian choices.

Khmer Kitchen: Good Eats

by Sarah203

This is a non pretensious, always crowded spot off the main road. The food is very good with large delicious portions of coconut curries and soups. The Khmer dumplings are good but they usually run out and you can't get enough of the delicious spring rolls. You can't go wrong with this one. It is the hot spot so sometimes there is a wait for a table.

Temple, Buddha Lounge, Le Grand, Dead Fish: Food Food and Food

by Joy1912

Basically, the restaurants at Pub Street served good food. Though the prices are rather high. All the restaurants are side by side, hence easy for you to "restaurant-hop" and try them out.Restaurants like Temple Bar/Club, Buddha Lounge and Le Tigre de Papier serve Western and Khmer/Thai food. Prices around US$4 for meals and US$1 to US$2 for drinks. Temple Bar has 1 for 1 promotion for cocktails and free flow of pop corn. Grab a book from D's Bookstore next door or the roving book carts and relax over a beer at the bar.The coffee at Italiano Picasso (or something like that) is rich and fragrant. Taj Mahal for Indian food (should be the only one on that street).Le Grand Cafe located at one end of Pub Street has pretty decent food for a nice ambience. Prices are higher here at around US$5 to US$6.I would highly recommend Dead Fish Tower restaurant located at Sivatha Blvd for good and...

Friends: Help out by eating here!

by micropiglet

A great place to eat! The best thing about this resturant is that is is set up to help local street kids and charities. It's also a training place for locals to gain resturant experience. Really sweet staff, and nice menu, good food and a really good cause! This country needs all the positive help it can get, and a place like this really shines as an example of how to help. It's calm and relaxing, and I found the food as good as anywhere else in the city.

Hotel Cambodiana: Sunday pig-out !!!!

by micropiglet

Nothing to do on a Sunday afternoon in Phnom Penh? Why not try the Sunday afternoon buffet at the Cambodiana. It's an escape from the heat and chaos of the city, and you can eat until you burst!!When I was there, the buffet was 5 dollars, and you can stay all afternoon, getting fuller and fuller, going back again and again to the buffet. There is a piano player and singer to accompany your feasting, and all in all, it's a relaxing way to spend a Sunday afternoon! All of it!!

The Soup Dragon: Siem Reap, dinner at the balcony

by sachara

n Siem Reap we went two times for dinner to the Soup Dragon Restaurant. Like many restaurants in the same street the Soup Dragon has a lovely balcony at the first floor. From here we had a nice overview of the lively street with many terraces and balconies.Though the restaurant is known because of its Vietnamese dishes we went there because of the wide range of dishes from all over the globe .... like asian, italian, middle eastern. I was at a point in my trip that I liked to eat something else as asian dishes. I especially liked the nicily decorated salads and the lebanese meze.

Kampuccino Pizza: Siem Reap: green and shady place at the riverside

by sachara

During our walk in Battambang we choosed Kampuccino Pizza at the riverside of the Siem Reap for our late lunch. It is a lovely and relaxed place under the shady arcade behind the abundant green plants. We took our time before we continued our second part of our walk in town. After our lunch we crossed the road to have a look at the river and backwards to the nice architecture of the restaurant. After many days Asian, Thai and Khmer food it was time for something else. So I choose mezze from the Middle East, Italian foccaccio and Indian lassi. An international mix from all over the globe which not disappointed me at all.

Sticky rice in bamboo

by sachara

At many places along the road in Cambodia we saw streetstalls where they prepared sticky rice in bamboo. The first time I saw the cutted pieces of bamboo in rows at the fire, I didn´t know what it was.During our moto ride in Battambang we had a flat tyre early morning and had to wait for the repairing close to this sticky rice stall. I could have a close look at the process. I saw some people buying the sticky rice for breakfast, but most took it with them during their trip. I tried only a small piece because I had just finished my breakfast. It was very sweet and tasty.

The White Rose (or Colap So): Battambang, the place to be....

by sachara

In Battambang the White Rose restaurant was recommended us for dinner. It looked like the place to be for locals, Asian, Western tourists and backpackers. All the tables were full. People came for a quick bite, a ice cream or a abundant dinner to this place. Also a lot of beggars in wheelchairs found their way to the sidewalks of the restaurant. Because we had a good and huge Khmer lunch earlier the day, we ordered only a salad, a sandwich and a delicious fruitshake for dinner for a change..... though the Khmer dishes looked and smelled very tasty !

Happy Pizza

by peitsing

Be careful when you're ordering Pizzas or any food whatsoever with the jovial and cheery "happy" word in the menu...These are meant to be food with a hint of marijuana within... Happy means a dash of marijuana, happy happy means an extra dosh and so on and on....And now you're wondering why you're feeling so lighthearted all of a sudden... :P*hic*
