Angkor Wat is very large and requires a driver to get around if you want to see it all. There are many guides available in Siem Reap. A good guide can make the difference between a positive and negative experience. Most guides charge $20 per day for their services, including transportation. To contact a guide before arriving see the email address below. I personally recommend his services if you are looking for an English speaking guide who is knowledgable, friendly and accomodating. For a well informed Tuk Tuk driver in Phnom Penh use 'Mr Fat Man'. He pitches outside the Raffles Hotel Le Royal. We hired him for an evening and he proved to be a great guide and companion. Highly recommeneded. English & Thai speaking. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherPhone: 012 25 40 72Other Contact: hengheoun@yahoo.com

It is advisible to move around temples using the two-person motorcycle trailers. Bicycles are to slow to cover places and motorcycles won't do any good when the sky decides to be merciless with her scorching sun or intermittent spells of heavy downpour. Our driver, Mr Lat Toeun, in his early thirties, is a reliable and very punctual certified driver. He charges from around US$45 to US$55 depending on the distance, from sunrise to sunset for a period of three days. It is better to pay more to get a driver who does not play you out on your sunrise, in fact, we paid him more than requested on the last day. The route we took: Day 0: Bakheng (sunset) Day 1: Angkor Wat (sunrise) - Angkor Thom - Bayon - Angkor Wat (sunset) Day 2: Srah Srang (sunrise) - Banteay Kdei - Ta Prohm - Preah khan - Ta Som - Pre Rup (sunset) Day 3: Bakong (sunrise) - Banteay Srei - Banteay Samre - Tonle Sap/Chong Khneas - Phnom Krom (sunset)

Make sure you agree on a price before you take any kind of transport in PP. We agreed on a price to the Russian Market with a tuk tuk driver who insisted he took us to the Central Market to which we could of easily walked. The 4 of us (all women) would not budge from the tuk tuk until he took us back to the Russian Market right back past our hotel. Although i knew from the map he was going the wrong way I even shoved the map in his face he would not listen. Just be firm stand your ground and you will be ok. Needless to say he didn't wait for a retunr fare!!! Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Road travel in Cambodia, in the main cities and roads is ok. Side streets are crumbeling ruins. Roads outside the cities range from ok to non existant.. Bus travel/Taxi travel is rough and can take a long time but is generaly cheap. Taking boats on the various rivers and lakes is a easier ride. The fast boat to Siam Reap is a good way to go. If you can afford it, flying is the quickest easiest way to get around. In cities you can take moto's and Tuk Tuks similar to Thailand. You need to be flexiable when you travel in Cambodia Leave a Comment Theme: Other

There are plenty of Tuk tuks on the streets. Try to negotiate for a good price before hopping onto one. Each Tuk tuk usually take either 2 or 4 passengers depending on the size. We visited the temples by engaging the driver from Red Piano Guesthouse. US$25 for a day, additional US$5 for further locations and transfer to airport. Transfer from airport is free. The driver, Phanna, brought us to temples and the boat trip. A nice guy. English speaking. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherPhone: 855-12-870-844 011-870-844Other Contact: svay_sophanna@yahoo.com

Tra Pin, a tuk-tuk driver near the old market (Psar Chaa) in Siem Reap is delightful. He is honest and provides tips (i.e. which locations to hang on to your belongings a little tighter ;) He speaks English quite well and I told him I would send everyone to him because he was so honest and helpful. Tuk Tuk rides in Cambodia are a pleasure. Refer to your travel guide or inquire a hotel desk employee of rates for tuk tuk drivers. In and around the city a 1-2$ should get you anywhere, or even cheaper. Always negotiate a price beforehand, and if you don't like one drivers style, no worries, theres five more out there who will want your business!!! Theme: Other

We travelled by tuk-tuk during our 5 day stay at Siem Reap this time round. The costs quoted (as at September 2007) by our guesthouse for routes in and around the Angkor region (price is per tuk tuk per day) was as follows:- 1) Small tour (Bayon, Angkor Wat, Ta Phrom) - US$12, 2) Grand Tour (the remaining temples e.g. Bantaey Kdei, Ta Keo, Ta Som, etc) - US$15, 3) Banteay Srei, Banteay Samre and Rolous group - US$20, Leave a Comment Theme: Other
