Cambodia to Laos
You can go from Stung Treng (by bus or boat from Phnom Penh) by boat (speed boat or slow boat) to the border Veun Kham (there is also a land border Dong Krolor, by bus). You will need to have your Laos visa allready.

If you do Siem Reap to Poipet with more than 2 people, I suggest to take taxi and the cost wont differ too much then bus. I did it with 6 friends at 2006, and the expense for one taxi (we took 2 taxi at that time) was about 40-50USD.Surely taxi is more comfortable than bus, and faster too. The length of the journey was about 4 hours with only one stop to allow us to go to toilet. The road was rough at that time, and at some part the road was covered by red soil. Fortunately it was clear day at that time. Maybe nowadays the condition is better. You have to leave Siem Reap early if you want to catch a train to Bangkok at Aranyaprathet. At that time the train left at 2 pm. It was an economy class train, so it stopped at some station to collect passenger. The train was full then. Make sure to get a seat because the journey it self took 6 hours, and there was no seat number at the ticket. Of...
In November 2007 I traveled on the speedboat from PP to SP. You have to purchase tickets in advance; I was able to purchase the tickets from the hotel. The fare was approximately $25 USD per person. I believe that there were only two boat shuttles per day, the one I choose departed at approximately 07:30am. We arrived into SS at 1300. It was a closed cabin boat that could seat approximately 60 people. During any period you could walk up front and climb out to the outside deck. It was windy as hell but a great photo opportunity, many local fishing boats along the journey. Have the camera handy then entering Siem Reap, there are amazing things to see in the channel prior to off-loading. The restroom for this vessel was located in the rear of the boat. All I can say about the restroom was, "I am glad I'm a guy". Sitting on this contraption would be impossible and could not imagine any body...
Taxis are a good way to see all the sights around Cambodia. I can recommend three drivers Mr Rithy Ngin 012879731 and Mr Men Sophan 012442785In Siem Reap we used Mr. Savoern 012944678.All were very polite and had a good knowledge of the area.
Tuk Tuk rides in Cambodia are a pleasure. Refer to your travel guide or inquire a hotel desk employee of rates for tuk tuk drivers. In and around the city a 1-2$ should get you anywhere, or even cheaper. Always negotiate a price beforehand, and if you don't like one drivers style, no worries, theres five more out there who will want your business!!!
Flying can save considerable time when traveling in Cambodia. If you want to only visit Phnom Penh and Siem Reap/Angkor Wat and then move on to another country, flying is a very easy and convenient way of doing so. It costs about 100$ for a flight around, and the planes are nice and comfortable. Consider it.
Took on one of the virtual tourist's tip on contacting the recommended driver named KimLeng and turned out to be a splendid decision. Throughout the 4 days we engaged him he has been truly a sincere and earnest driver, always willing to take us on a path few have trodden. While he is not a tour guide, he tries his best to always offer useful tips. Kimleng joined us for all the meals and through the chats, received much insights about living and working in Cambodia, which really gives one a true perspective. Contact him at sangkimleng@yahoo.com, charges are at US12 a day.

Fom Hua Lamphong train station leaves a daily train at 05:55 to Aranya Pratet which arrives at about noon. There is another train leaving later but you have no time enough to reach Siem Reap on the same day! Lonely planet informs 5 hours, but I spent more time on train. From Aranya Pratet there are many tuktuks to the Poipet border. Train fare: 48 bathsTuktuk fare: 50-60 bahts.

When you arrived in Airport, you can see a lot of motor taxi waiting outside. Dont be afraid. There are one guy willdeal a price for you. I make a reserach about price before came here. If you use their service, from airport to city centre only cost you less than USD5. so, if you travel max 2 person, its good if you use motorbike, also depends on your luggage. To go around, you stil can negotiate with them. For one day service, you only pay for USD10, dont pay more than that because we HOLD the power here. They know, if they let us go, there are so many taxi waiting for us. So, normally they can accept the deal. They also have trishaw or motorbike with big box (i dont remember the name), but its little bit slow. Since that place in Phnom Penh its quite far between each other, motorbike is a good transportation.
