Prices of tuk-tuk from Guesthouse

by rm2co

We travelled by tuk-tuk during our 5 day stay at Siem Reap this time round. The costs quoted (as at September 2007) by our guesthouse for routes in and around the Angkor region (price is per tuk tuk per day) was as follows:-1) Small tour (Bayon, Angkor Wat, Ta Phrom) - US$12, 2) Grand Tour (the remaining temples e.g. Bantaey Kdei, Ta Keo, Ta Som, etc) - US$15,3) Banteay Srei, Banteay Samre and Rolous group - US$20,

Air Asia

by rm2co

Flew directly on Air Asia to Siem Reap from Kuala Lumpur's Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCC-T) for my 2nd visit to the Angkor Wat temple complex in 2007. Cost from Siem Reap town to the Siem Reap International Airport by tuk-tuk costs US$4.00. Most guest houses will send someone who will pick you up from the airport for free. This person will most likely be your driver during your stay in Siem Reap, should you require one.

Going to Cambodia is quite straightforward

by Emile72

Cambodia may sounds like it is off the beaten track, but when coming from Europe, going to Cambodia is quite straightforward. You can take a direct flight from Europe to Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur. From those cities you can fly with either Bangkok Airways (1hr) or Air Asia (2hr) to Siem Reap/Phnom Penh. Also inside Cambodia you can fly with Bangkok airways between e.g. Siem Reap and Phnom Penh. Please note that you have to pay 25 USD when leaving Phnom Penh airport for an international flight.

Mekong Bus Express (from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap)

by LoveBeLL

We took the Mekong Bus Express from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap. The bus ticket cost for a foreigner was USD10/person which includes a sandwich, a 330ml bottle of water and a fruit. For Cambodians, they pay USD9/person. There is also a "tour guide" who will make announcements in English and Cambodian the locations the bus is passing through and some small little info about the place. This is the only bus service that has a toilet on board.According to the locals, this is the best bus service to take as the buses are newer and safest (very important), which probably accounts for the high fares even for the locals. On the other bus services, the difference between what a foreigner pays and what a local pays is greater (at least USD3 difference), and fares cost alot less (probably around USD6/foreigner).The whole journey took 5.5hrs with a half hour break about 2.5hrs after the journey started....

Our Two-person Motorcycle Trailer Driver

by danieltaneh

It is advisible to move around temples using the two-person motorcycle trailers. Bicycles are to slow to cover places and motorcycles won't do any good when the sky decides to be merciless with her scorching sun or intermittent spells of heavy downpour. Our driver, Mr Lat Toeun, in his early thirties, is a reliable and very punctual certified driver. He charges from around US$45 to US$55 depending on the distance, from sunrise to sunset for a period of three days. It is better to pay more to get a driver who does not play you out on your sunrise, in fact, we paid him more than requested on the last day.The route we took:Day 0: Bakheng (sunset)Day 1: Angkor Wat (sunrise) - Angkor Thom - Bayon - Angkor Wat (sunset)Day 2: Srah Srang (sunrise) - Banteay Kdei - Ta Prohm - Preah khan - Ta Som - Pre Rup (sunset)Day 3: Bakong (sunrise) - Banteay Srei - Banteay Samre - Tonle Sap/Chong Khneas -...

It also lists the cost of bus/boat trips as well as the contact numbers of the bus/boat companies. If required you can even book flights, bus, boat online at:http://www.kucambodia.com/flight_ticketing.phpAs this website is run by a private travel company, there may be charges involved for the services rendered.

Bus to Siamriab

by Pat_Bangkok

The bus journey was 5 hours from Poi Pet to Siam Reap. we were driving on the rocky, bumpy with dirt.Luckily our air conditioned bus are in good conditions . We stop at Srisophon to have lunch before go further to Siamriab. The poor villages both side of the roads are dusty, the peoples living there might cause problem about breathing.I wish that they could reconstruct a new road soon after the contract of Bangkok Airway soon expired in year 2008.

Vesatile motobike

by SUN_69

Motorbike is the most common mode of transport. Cambodians are creative in their use of this vehicle. Entire family of 5 can be on a single bike making those circles' multi-passengers-on-a-bike performance a routine affair. It is also used for carrying goods, including pigs, grosceries in sacks load, etc.
