Transportation to Western Mebon

by muddybok

The only mode of transport to access to Western Mebon, the island temple in the middle of Western Baray is none other than there boats. If you're coming here on weekend, you're likely to have shorter waiting before boat is filling up in order to cross to the temple.Come afternoon, you will see many locals will take a dip in the Western Baray as this is the only "public" swimming pool found in Siem Reap.

Siem Reap to Phnom Penh - Ferry via Tonle Sap Lake

by ECYM

We did not take this route as we find that the ferry tickets are fairly steep at USD 25/ pax. Nevertheless, there are still many tourists who ply on this route. Most hotels in Siem Reap or Phnom Penh are able to help you to book the ferry tickets. Was told the journey on a wet season is around 5 hours.

Transport - Tuk-Tuk Driver

by antonpopa

Best and list expensive way to go around Phnom Penh and Siem Reap is to use Tuk-Tuk, pleasant and somewhat exotic. You seat more comfortable than in any taxi cab, and no need for AirCon. 360 View around at all times and makes one feel part of the surroundings.Call SENG PANG ( 855 12-911-697 ) in Phnom Penh or CHUM SOCHEAT ( 855-12-285-984 ) in Siem Reap to arrange a Airport pick up and city tour for very low cost. The are very knowledgeable, speak good English ( very important ) and above all very safe to be with. You can trust that you are well guided everywhere. They know all the tourist spots, night clubs as well as for adult entertainments. Mention the VT website for an even better daily rate.Email: sengpang81@hotmail.com and socheatdriver@yahoo.com

Air Travel in Camdodia

by travelswithsteve

Internal air services to Mondulkiri and Stung Treng have been discontinued indefinitely. Air travel to Ratanakiri in the north east of the country is preferable to overland travel because of security concerns and extremely poor road conditions. Please be aware of concerns about the safety and maintenance standards of aircraft owned by local airlines operating internal flights, as evidenced by a November 2005 crash of a Royal Phnom Penh Airways plane. These flights are often cancelled or rescheduled at short notice.

An excellent motorbike transport driver/guide

by lemondrop

A highly recommended guy to use for motorbike-transport: Meng Hout Tel# 012-835 925 / 855-12-835 925 No.063, St. Psa Krom, Cambodia This guy is very reliable, very safe, speaks excellent English, and knows his way around to all the sites. He is quite punctual, always arriving before the desired pick-up time, so you never have to wait. You can use him for a day, or for your entire stay. Tell him Eric the American sent you !

Van or Minibus (Toyotas)

by muddybok

There are 11 of us squeeze into a small Toyota van as we travel from Poi Pet to Siem Reap. I'm really impressed by the driver's skill to maneuver between holes.I'm even more surprise that all the Toyotas in Cambodia has to withstand all these abuse. I think my Jeep may disintegrate after one month in Cambodia. Most of these cars are imported as reconditioned cars, therefore the car owners can really push them to the limit as work horses. Some of them don't even bear registration place numbers. How i wish Air Asia already fly Siem Reap when i first visit Cambodia.

Take a taxi from SR to Poipet.35 US$ and 3 hours .Arrange through your guesthouse or better trought the tuk tuk man who bring to Angkor during your stay in Siem Reap.Leave at 6.00am so, cross the border to Thailand is very easy and you can find the bus to Bangkok in the morning (about 11.00am) and arrive in early afternoon..........Taxi let you 1km before the border. There, you wait the FREE SHUTTLE BUS to border area.

Tuk tuk all the way

by chrissycat

We hire a tuk tuk driver for the 5 days we stay in Cambodia, one day is around 10USD but we gave him extra as he was such a nice and friendly chap. a one way trip to your destination in town is only 1USD. so if any of them wants to charge you more, just hop onto another tuk tuk that charges 1USD.
