It's not really a warning, but shortage of water is embarassing enough. The warning is that if you stay in hostels or inns, take bath before the bath-rush-hour and store some water with basin for the morning.
my experience: water suddenly stopped when i just put shampoo onto my hair; i tried the switch to figure it out, and then I felt that there is something dropping down from the shower tap. I raised my face and saw muddy water drop down. I didn't take bath that night, and worse, there is no water to wash my face in the morning.
You should keep this warning in mind when you are travelling in any place in Middle Land of China, particularly in towns or less developed places.
