Fondest memory: This was one of two Salvador Dali exhibitions that I went to during my 2002 around the world trip... The other one was in Brugges, Belgium... Both exhibitions focused on fascinating late period works such as lithographs and illustrations... Things like a series on Boccaccio's "Decameron"... Dali is generally more famous for his stunning early works such as "Persistence of Memory" and "Metamorphosis of Narcissus" but his late period works are all equally fascinating and insightful...!

Favorite thing: The association between Salvador Dali and the People's Republic of China goes back to the time of the Chinese "great proletarian cultural revolution" when Dali produced many illustrations inspired by the poems of Chairman Mao Zedong, some of which were on display at this exhibition...

Fondest memory: During my most recent trip to Beijing, I attended an outstanding exhibition of late Salvador Dali lithographs, watercolors and sculptures... My Portuguese traveling friend Paula, pictured here next to a soft watch sculpture, joined me for the event... Paula was a big fan of Dali, and was so thrilled to see the exhibition on her last day in Beijing...!
