    It is a very prosperous shopping streets. With hundreds of modern shopping malls as well as traditional ones that even last more than 100 years. You can buy anything from cool digital stuff to tiny artistic paper kite. And there various restaurants ,coffee bars cater to international and local customers in the shopping mall and streets. Also there are 2 big book store (one more than 5 story) . You can get some books and Video products here. OH remember the book store close early no late than 6 pm. others always open until 11pm or even later. Enjoy crazy shopping night ! ~~~ :)

    Shopping indeed is a very exhausting job .Remember:Heavy bags will kill you.

  • its not like what the name may suggest back home...its one of the bigger and popular bars on bar street...locals and foreigners mingle freely...if you wanna be close to the stage then better get there no less than 8 or 9 pm however...if the band is singing a well known song then everyone follows along so you won't miss much...the song list varies from soft rock to ballads to rock to folk...the wait staff is always less than 5 feet away so you'll never have to worry about running out something to drink...ladies selling cigars to cigarettes and even flowers for the ladies walk up and down the isles...the flower ladies are especially aggressive but eventually they'll leave you alone...its just a great place to just go and talk with you friends while listening to some great music...it has a very friendly and lively atmosphere...kinda loud so you won't be able to hear anyone more than 10 feet away but the bands are so good that you want really care...

    no dress code...

  • Hot night spot in Beijing. In Shanghai they told me Beijing has completely different feel 'very conservative'. So the first night in Beijing I end up dancing to 1 AM with a chinese student. Definitely worth a visit.

    I walked for miles past numerous ring roads, construction and highways until I found this place. The map I had wasn't exactly to scale! All for the sake of collecting a guitar pin! However a cold beer at the end of a very hot and tiring day was very welcomed. The food wasn't bad either and there was an Australian band playing.

    The restaurant entrance features a bright red 1960 vintage Cadillac, a huge neon-lit guitar, and marble piano keys that pave the way to the Cafe. The interior offers an 8-metre-wide dome, painted with images of Jimi Hendrix, Chuck Berry, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Little Richard, Elvis Presley, and popular tourist spots such as Tiananmen Square and Temple of Heaven. The guitar-shaped bar, measuring 11.5 metres, is truly a masterpiece. The centre stage is set against a huge stained glass wall measuring 4.6 metres by 4.8 metres

    It was interesting to see a table of American couples nearby who had obviously just adopted new Chinese babies.. all comparing notes and just enjoying a 'new family' night out.

  • Chao Yang District (the consulate district) - San Li Tun Clubbing area, The Den (pub and disco), The Loft (jazz live band with spacious and yuppie feel environment), The Paulaner Brauhaus (Hotel Kempinski Renassaince at Yin Sa district) with Latin music and salsa dance, foreigners filled
    Filled with people of age mostly above 20's in San Li Tuen area. The Den & The Loft, locates closely to San Li Tun (within 5-10 mins cab travelling)
    San Li Tun clubbing street - locals more than foreigners; The Den - half and half locals and foreigners; The Loft - mostly businessmen and mature around 30's or above; Paulaner Brauhaus (mostly foreigners)

    Except San Li Tun area allows you to dress a bit casual, the others are suggested to have a smart casual way

    Sanlitun is where you can go clubbing and dancing.
    If you wanna take a listen to Peking Opera, then you can go to Hu Guang Hui Guan and also Chang An Xi Yuan

    Excellent music and a good mix of locals and ex-pats. Later the music moves from light techno and R&B to hip hip.

  • Bla Bla bar - this is a really cool bar on the campus of Beijing Language and Culture institute. It's a little hard to find but if you ask people they'll be able to direct you. This place is packed with foreign students from all over the world, has good music, and is generally just a really cool place. It's on the second floor of a student-union type building, there's also a good sandwich shop up there and a great place to buy bootlegged CDs on the first.

  • Club Havana - right next to the Workers' Stadium. It's a great little club - you can sit on swings outside or dance with hip young Chinese trying to Latin dance. There are some foreigners, not too many, and many from non-western countries so it's usually a great time. Oh and the mojitos are FANTASTIC!!!
