After weeks of strange looking food, mostly inedible, the steakhouse was a welcome site. We stayed in Beijing and enjoyed 3 meals at this restaurant. It has a Aussie theme with boomerangs and other Aussie artifacts on the wall. Aboriginal paintings added to the theme.
Food and service was outstanding.
Favorite Dish: Any of their steaks which were barbecued perfectly, the battered prawns as appetizer were super. Beer was cold (sometimes a problem in China) Even do a pretty good Atlantic Salmon

There are two Outback Steakhouses in Beijing, and I hope the one at Workers Stadium is better than the one in the Beijing Hotel.
It is as Australian as the average Irish "pub" is Irish. A few ads, "Sheila" on the door of the ladies, and pictures of koalas. I *really* felt like I was in Australia.(Errrrrrr)
The food was simply insipid. An uninspiring menu with choices so standard that you feel there is more variety at McDonalds. Medocre steak, cold fries, wimpy coleslaw. The coffee wasn't bad, but it's a big bucket of money to pay to discover that the coffee is good.
Favorite Dish: Errrr. Nothing. Sorry.
This restaurant is as exciting and fun as a dentists waiting room, but less magazine choice.
The place was also empty, which doesn't surprise me at all.

If you are fed up with Chinese food it is of course possible to get western food.We tried out Outback steakhouse. I think this is a Australian chain of restaurants around the world. The place itself was decorated in a pretty nice with typical Australian items.
Favorite Dish: We had steaks of course :-) But we also had chicken wings and fried onien for starters. In the end it was too much food...I was more or less full before the maindish even reached the table :-)
The prices at this restaurant are much higher compared to eating at a local Chinese restaurant.
