This is an absolute must whenever you are in the Beijing area. The only man made thing that can be seen from outer space. It is absolutely stunning and awe-inspiring.
Great walls can be tiring to climb. So cop out and take the cable car up and the slide down. That will leave you with more energy to wall further along the wall. :)
It was a miserable, rainy day when we were here. But it did not diminish the history that I felt from being on this spot. It is one of those sights that has to be on everyone's list.
The Great Wall, the Forbidden City, the Tian An Mun, the Tian Tan (Altar in Heaven), the National History Musuem, The People's Grand Hall, the Summer Palace ... are must see sites but not all.
Activity: a SMALL view of the Great Wall (we were told how long it is, a number too great to remember)
If you go to China without seeing the Great Wall, you have not really been to China! This is the Wall at a typical tourist spot.
After the entrance, turn to the LEFT hand side for experiencing slove scary Great Wall path.
..or .. turn to the RIGHT hand side for beautiful scenetic Great Wall path.
The view from it is amazing. You must try to climb to a high point of the Great Wall. It's length looks infinitely long.
