Hutong s are back alleys where old traditions remain very much alive and kicking. There are about 4,550 of them in Beijing, ubiquitous in these hutongs are quadrangle dwellings.
Lao She was a famous Chinese writer. He wrote both in English and Chinese. He used to live in this little traditional courtyard in Beijing.
