Although I am not supporting the olympics this year in Beijing, that is my own political opinion. The Chinese people are very excited about being the chosen host country; I guess that's why in Tiananmen Square they have a coundown clock to the Olympics.

Along the eastern side of the Square, you will be able to locate the National Museum of China. It has an Olympic Countdown Clock and you can see many locals and tourists taking photos with the countdown clock. The opening ceremony of the Olympics will be on 8/8/2008 at 8pm. The Chinese likes the number 8 as it sounds like fa(1) - wealth.

This was the countdown clock in Tiananmen Square which was counting down to the handover of Hong Kong back to China. It was stopped 2 ½ hours into July 1st 1997, the official handover date. Apparently the clock has been moved to the Great Wall and placed in an historical museum there.
