Hard Rock Cafe: Hard Rock Cafe

by muddybok

I do not have Lonely Planet Beijing Guide, but I sure believe it's featured in LP.Some people will just visit the place to buy HRC T-Shirt, but I am here just to checking it out (and never buy HRC T-Shirt). Don't scold me ok, I’m not so into showing off I been to Beijing kind of thing. If I want a HRC T-shirt, I will wear a Kuala Lumpur’s HRC shirt.

Happy House: Music and Mayhem!

by sugarpuff

This place unfortunately does not exist anymore, but I've kept the tip more as a reminder for me of some of the fun bars that used to be here in Beijing! This place is the kind of place I could spend every evening during the summer at! It has a large upstairs outside terrace where you can spy on all the passers by down below! The drinks are only 10yuan for both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks which equates to around 70p, and it's only the water which is most expensive at 20yuan a bottle! Why is that always the case! The one drink you need to keep you going the whole night and its the dearest!!!!There is a mini seating area downstairs with comfy sofas, a dance floor upstairs and then the terrace! The waiters all come to your table to take your order, you then pay and then they come back with the drinks! Its great service! The only down point about this whole area is that it is soon to...

LAN: Is it a Disneyland ride or a set 4 Eyes Wide Shut

by beaverk

This is truly a bizarre place only found in contemporary China. One must at least visit once to behold the spectacle. This is a bar/lounge/restaurant that spans at least 40,000 square feet of a modern skyscraper across the street from the Silk Market. The first time I went in was when they first opened. Very few souls there and it instantly reminded me of the mansion in the movie Eyes Wide Shut! However, as I explored the dark cavernous setting further, I found this monstrous and decadent lounge/bar/restaurant resembling much more like Haunted Mansion in Disneyland!!! It has the same style of mirrors, paintings, décor, furniture…well this place is more tacky. Way more.LAN serves two types of cuisine: Sichuan and Italian. Both taste really bad and way over priced.Music is too loud at the main lounge. The wine selection is great but it is definitely not for the regular crowd. Two bottles...

China Doll: Hot hot hot!!!

by cheeksy

One of the hottest clubs in Beijing at the moment. Amazing decor and affordable drinks. You might want to call them in advance though to book a place. Oh, and don't mind those videos on the screens, walls and ceiling... A bit strange! Oh well ok. THEY ARE STRANGE!Music: some mixture of techno and house. Not the best DJ but it's alright for big drinkers :o) Trendy!

Q Bar: Smooth martini

by beaverk

On the sixth floor of a really cheap Motel 6 like Chinese inn. This is the last place one would find a fantastic contempo decor lounge/bar serving some of the best drinks in Beijing. low key, moody at times, a wide open terrace section for the warm months, Q Bar can be the secret rendezvous spot for one's discreet encounters or a hang out and chat night with friends on the weekends. Super casual

Mongolian bars in general: Hot Beijing night?

by tanguero45

Gentlemen...IF your friends suggest going to a Mongolian bar, DO NOT go there. It is a brothel. Found this out after a really good night at a club only to be brought down by this. Yuk. But if that is your cup of tea...all the power to ya! No code...after a while, I suspect it would be no clothes either

Browns Pub Restaurant: Drinks! Party! Western style water hole

by beaverk

The brand new Browns (as of jan 2006) is designed to ease the cultural shock of those who have recently moved here from somewhere outside of China. The place is also for those freaking out over Beijing, had enough of the huge crazy city, the non-western behaviors of the locals, and for those who have been here for a while and need a little piece of that familiar hip pub/bar/drinks therapy. Browns is all that. Interior wide open spaces designed like a huge American sports bar with a great collection of bottles lining the wall behind the bar. Loud and engaging, it's the perfect place to de-stress after a long day sitting in the 2nd ring traffic circus... Casual. You will most likely find people still in their business outfits.

BED: party! Dance! Chill! in a classic hutong setting

by beaverk

BED is one of those bar/lounge you can't find on the map. Usually someone will tell you about it and how to get there. BED is unique in Beijing. Off the beaten path hidden in a hutong street, the place used to be two courtyard houses joined together. The place is full of great antique furniture. The mood and atmosphere range from low key to psychedelic funk! yep, you have to check it out yourself to figure that one out. Lots of chinese beds are placed in different rooms with ample cushions in case you want to relax and chill. Best mojitos in town. Water pipes standing by upon request. And the owner Cho is always there friendly to chill with you if you like. The tapas are excellent as well. Casual.

Tip Photo
BAR BLU: Roof top party!

by beaverk

Bar Blu is a place to go to drink, to be seen, to dance, to party, to play a game for some free prizes, and to play some pool. The decor is...blue...mostly, and the drinks are decent. The only thing is, to get to Bar Blu, one has to walk up four floors!!! I could never figure out how those who had a few too many to drink manage to exit this place. Casual. Girls are in their party best of course.
