35 RMB/person for a ride in a share-taxi from Linxia to Lanzhou (about 3 hours journey time), don't get ripped off. Much more comfortable than the public buses and faster too! Same goes for Linxia -- Xiahe.

Get on the bus outside the bus station at the West bus station in Lanzhou. This way you can avoid the insurance. If the ticket collector asks, of course, you have insurance, show them your foreign one (if they ask). Refuse to pay any surcharge. Local price is 10 RMB normal bus (4-5 hrs), 15 RMB Evecco (3.5 hrs). From the bottom of the huge underpass in Xiao Xi Hu, Lanzhou near the west bus station, you can get taxis (2.5 hrs) that will take you for 120 RMB a car, or 30 RMB, based on 4 sharing with locals making up the number.
