T trains are considerably faster than "1000" trains. There are also additional ex-timetable trains (there is one 'temporary' train that runs between Liuyuan and Lanzhou at the moment)

Current train times for services westbound from Liuyuan. Note that, confusingly (but typically for China) many timetables refer to Liuyuan as Dunhuang (which it most certainly is not). Even Ryanair would be hard pressed to use the name Dunhuang at Liuyuan.
