Though not always produced in Tianshui, expect bargains on embroideries here. The bext place to find them is on walk street, just across from the ice cream vendor on the second floor. 2' square pieces should run a couple hundred kuai, while 6'x2.5' can be had for around 1000 if you bargain hard. (Similar sizes but poorer quality examples run at least three times more expensive in Beijing or Shanghai.) Beware, however, that they are usually glue sized to wood backings, so you can't roll them up and carry them. Smaller items can be shipped via China Post, but they have a dimentional limit so check before you buy. Suitcase sized pieces can be had for as little as 30 kuai.
