You will find people selling everything from bikes, baskets, carts. They are generally friendly but ready to charge any foreigner at least double the price. Bargaining is apart of the lifestyle and it's almost an insult to not do it.

What to buy: All the fruit and veg are grown just around the corner. The down side, no government controls on pesticides, they still use DDT, or on genetic alteration.
In fact, they have no controls on processed food either. Recently a company was shut down because babies were dying because the company was substituing the expense milk based powder with a soya filler! The company justified it by saying it was an effective financial move....

What to pay: Bargain, start with less than half of what they offer.
