The plaza in Shekou is rare in China. It is a real plaza - or piazza - filled with shops, cafes and restaurants. It is a real pleasure to wander around away from the rush and noise of traffic, in a clean well-tended square. It is a pavement cafe atmosphere, with plenty of music, tables out on the pavement, and a generally laid-back atmosphere.
The bars stay open late, and the coffee shops open early: one of the nicest places in China for a morning coffee and croissant!
