What a superb Japanese restaurant(in China), beautiful surroundings, scenery, chefs(lady chefs),food is the best, the views of the city are wonderful. But if dining in this hotel you can not miss an after dinner cocktail in Appollo 57; "ever had a drink in Heaven".

In the land of tea, coffeehouses sure are getting their fair share of customers. And one newcomer in the market is Andes Cafe. Boasting of true Columbian coffee, this cafe is a nice addition to Shenzhen's many cafes. it's the Starbucks alternative, it's quiet, with a stylish interior, and free wireless internet plus excellent service.
Favorite Dish: cafe mocha and their cookies are great

The city is dotted with Starbucks but this cafe attracts a crowd of its own. If you're looking for a quiet and cozy place to drink your coffee or just relax, this is the place to be. With high french windows and dimly lit interiors, books and artworks covering the walls, the 92 degree cafe seems like the perfect hangout for artists. Drinks aren't bad with all kinds of coffee and tea and some dessert. There's also wireless internet connection available.
Favorite Dish: my favorite drink is the ice cream coffee and caramel coffee.
i always try to get iced coffee because they're in a big glass :) More value for money.
Drinks from RMB20 up.

It seems to be out place but of all places in China Shekou has the most number of all-you-can-eat Brazilian BBQ restaurants!
One worth visiting is actually inside the belly of the old MingHua Cruise Ship. It hitted the sandbar which used to be along the shore of Shekou in the 90s and has been beached and left to rust until a real estate group decided to build a park around the old boat in 2003. They also took out most of the ships inside and converted the hold into a restaurant and pub.
The staterooms are now a hotel, worth spending the night there if you are visiting Shekou.

Had wonderful dim sum at Shang Palace in this 5 Star hotel, the Shangri-La Shenzen.
Location is just across the border from Hong Kong to Shenzen. You walk on the pedestrian bridge pass the Railway Station and then come down the stairs to just in front of the hotel.
Standard array of dim sum and high quality in taste, prepared by Hong Kong chefs.
Excellent service but pricey. Consider the buffet style package vs ala carte depending on the number of persons and your appetite.

There is an interesting restaurant in Shenzhen which has a Mao Zedong theme, however I cannot remember its name and location (it is located along a street with many neighbouring restuarants). It serves various Chinese dishes and the price is reasonable, though the food is not really that good.

At Fuyong, Shenzhen and other towns in the vicinity, Sichuan food seems to be very popular and there are many Sichuan restaurants. Essentially, Sichuan food is from the Sichuan province of China (see my VT Sichuan Sheng page) and the food is usually very hot and spicy, to the extent of numbing your tongue! More photos are at the travelogue section of this VT page.

There is a nice Japanese restaurant at the Shenzhen Sunway Hotel located at Fuyong just across the road to the Shenzhen airport. This restaurant serves good Japanese food including sushi and the atmosphere is nice (see photos). The waitresses are also friendly but the food is not cheap.
