View from Beifeng Shan Pinnacle

Beingfeng Shan Mountain Park is an expansive park that is filled with hiking trails. You will find yourself driving up a concrete paved steep and long road to the preserve entrance. At the entry is a welcome center where you can purchase snacks, refreshments, and food for the monkeys. They have a few caged monkeys nearby the welcome center that the children love. There are a few modern cabins and lodging available. Most people don't stay there, but hire a car or a bus to reach the mountain, hike, and then leave. It's pinnacle of course is Beifeng Shan. You will find yourself climbing the stairs up to the top. There are many stairs and it is very steep. The hike is particularly challenging, especially in the heat and humidity of the August weather!! However, the view is spectacular and well worth the effort!!

Bridge in Taishan Man-Made Lake

There is an enormous man-made lake that is situated on the south-west side of Taishan City. It's also a park that is made in the traditional Chinese manner. There is one lake that is filled with lotus blossoms. You can see the locals harvesting the lotus seeds with nets on long bamboo sticks.

Other parts of the lake are adorned with scenic bridges and pavilions. In the morning, you can hear musicians practicing the art of Chinese opera as they sing songs of the old. You can also catch people invigorating themselves with tai chi. At any given time of the day, you will see the young and the old relaxing on benches.
