Guangzhou Railroad Station had shockingly bold thieves that tried to steal my luggage once I reached the front entrance even though there were police on the grounds. The crowds were huge and the thieves were definitely focused in on me since I was a single female standing there with 6 bags circled around me as I waited for my driver to arrive. I looked like easy prey. I managed to maintain my composure and stare at the thieves because I wanted them to know I am aware of their goal. Many police were dragging thieves who were bothering other peoples away to paddy wagons. No lack of excitement.
I did get out of there with all the bags but once I got to the Guangzhou Airport and checked in I lost my large camera bag with all my valuables as I put the numerous bags on the conveyor belt of the x-ray machine. That thief may have been working with others, happened so fast and no evidence left behind except my tears. There were no airport cameras watching this area even though we are required to put all bags through the X-ray machine . What type of security is this ???? What a huge pity and I learned a very valuable lesson to never travel with so many bags again
