River View Pavilion (Yue Jiang Lou)
Favorite thing: Take a stroll along the West River and you'll likely come across two attractions mentioned in most guide books that feature Zhaoqing.
The River View Pavilion, also known as Yue Jiang Tower, is one of the two oldest remaining structures in Zhaoqing. The other one is Chongxi Pagoda, which is just about 15 minutes away if you keep walking.
There's not much of interest inside the building but it does have that view of the river for which it is named.
- Budget Travel
Favorite thing: Further down the riverbank is Chongxi Pagoda. It was originally built in 1582 during the Ming dynasty, has 9 stories and is 58 meters tall.
Each story has eight angles on which wind chimes used to be hung. Recent renovations over the last decade have the pagoda looking like new again but the wind chimes were conveniently forgotten.
