This was beautiful. This is a virgin subtropical rainforest. The air was fresh and park was large. My friend and I were often the only one's around. There are temples and waterfalls which were nice so we had an aim of where to walk. Mostly it was just great to walk in real rainforest.more
This park is basically surrounded by the city. It is also quite large. You can boats around the lake to it or hike around. If you really need a breath of fresh air then this is the best place in Guangdong province to get some. Of course there's also plenty of shade, mountain springs, waterfalls, and luscious green foliage to keep you refreshed.
It's only 20 km from Zhaoqing but you'll want to spend more time here so plan on an extra day if you can.
Among the attractions here is a Buddhist temple serving vegetarian meals and a natural pool beneath a waterfall that Sun Yatsen (Sun Zhongshan) is said to have used as his own swimming hole.
Further down the riverbank is Chongxi Pagoda. It was originally built in 1582 during the Ming dynasty, has 9 stories and is 58 meters tall. Each story has eight angles on which wind chimes used to be hung. Recent renovations over the last decade have the pagoda looking like new again but the wind chimes were conveniently forgotten.more
