Favorite thing: Venture out on your own! I repeat, this is not a tourist attraction. It's where the locals live & farm. So, if you'd like to visit this area, you need a local guide to bring you here. & it's not accessible by car either.

Favorite thing: Share this wonderful view with someone you love.
When I first arrived, my first thought was 'I wish I could share this with the person I love! I'd have felt complete & contented to just share a moment in time & that'd have made me the happiest woman in the world!'

Favorite thing: YANGSHUO (Day 2): YULONG HE ROUTE.
Fondest memory: This is in fact the highlight of my entire trip. There isn't any tourist attractions that's related to this area... in fact, tourists don't visit this area for the very reason that it's only accessible by bicycles & tricycles.
I learned about this place from a Chinese travel magazine which introduced Yulong He (Yulong River) as one of the route for those interested in cycling around Yangshuo. Unknowingly to me, I was surprised at the beauty of the river & mountains that surround the padi fields. It's amazingly peaceful & felt like a paradise, one that's still undiscovered by most. I have to thank my guide for having known where to bring me to. She has even given me an education on the vegetation around this region. Truly a marvelous experience. Sometimes, when you least expect it you are given a beauty that you'll treasure & cherish forever. That perhaps is the most wonderful journey of being alive!

Favorite thing: Bring along your 35mm camera for taking photos in caves! Digital camera is a lousy substitute (unless you have the top of the range); I've tried this without much success in many caves. Guilin region has one of the world's largest number of caves!

Favorite thing: DRAGON CAVE (Yangshuo): Found close to Banyan Tree Park, it's a deep cavern with an underground running water. A tour includes both land route & river route. There's a wide variations of stalactites & stalagmites to explore. It's really amazingly beautiful with colorful lighting.

Favorite thing: Xijie (West Street)(Yangshuo): This place, I was told, is a congregation for the westerners. It's where you get your beers, souvenirs & English speaking guides! This may be the only place in Yangshuo where almost everyone can converse in English.
To the locals from other parts of China, it's kind of refreshing & entertaining to visit this area since they don't have much interactions with the west. My guide has also provided me of stories (some quite sad) concerning inter-racial marriages in West Street. Some actually sounded like version of 'Madame Butterfly'!

Fondest memory: We passed by this area while on the way to Moon Hill. One of the best thing about traveling on a tricycle is that you can stop as & when you wish. Had I been in a car I wouldn't have enjoyed the trip as much!
Amazing view, isn't it?

Fondest memory: Ok, finally made it to the top! After over an hour of climbing the stairs, I was tired! But, there's this 60+ year old lady who was lugging cold drinks (for sale) & she was so amazingly fit! Apparently she does this everyday & earns her living just doing that. I wish I had her stamina!

Favorite thing: Moon Hill: This is where the journey is more fun than the destination. At least for me it is. The sight from the top is worth the climb though I wouldn't call it a million $ view. Nonetheless, if you've the time & stamina, do go for it!

Favorite thing: View from atop Moon Hill: Climb right to the top of Moon Hill. The views are great! It took us more than an hour to go all the way up though. I didn't think I was that fit but there were 3 other guys who were worse than us! :D
