  • Bring a compass if you want to do it the same way as we did. The 3 scenic sites on Da Zhai are "north" - so a good compass will help guide the way =)

    Travel light as you need to hike. Small backpack for day use. A cap.

    comfortable sneakers or sandals - good grip.
    a light overcoat or jacket or a shawl - nights could be cold

    normally those lodges up the hill do not provide toiletries or towels... bring your own. A sunblock would be useful if the heat is on. They do provide toilet rolls though.

    of course...lots of memory card and heavily charged batteries
