This is the train station in Nanning. I got here from Guilin on a double decker train (No. N701) that was absolutely packed with people. The train left on time at 08:22 and arrived at 13:00. The seats were small with very upright backs that were a bit comfortable for the 4.5+ hour long journey but it was helped along by me speaking to a young...more

I used to like going out in the city streets where you can't understand a word. I randomly ended up here in one of the new quarters somewhere close to Nanning provincial bus station, it's not even suburb here anymore because Nanning grew so huge, with block after a block mushrooming with irreperssible speed. These open areas, paved with concrete...more
When it comes to frying - i mean real frying, the Chinese really does it best!. The fire is so strong and the wok is so hot that the fire just "flies" into the wok ....... The food that comes out from this frying is definately "thoroughly" fried! and to most Chinese, these are really tasty!more
I love this! Everyone gets to read the news of the day for free. Newspapers are being pasted on framed glass panels for public viewing. These are normally found at entrances to parks , along pathways or nearby bus stops. We saw this panel at People's Park. A great way to share awareness of what's happening!more
When visitinng or travelling here in Nanning it is definately advisable to wear a particle mask..The pollution here as in most big cities in China has extremely high levels. The locals know and are seen with a mask and it is a common sight..especially because of the many cars and motorcycles apparently that are here. I always carry masks with me when travelling anywhere in Asia due to the extreme pollution . These can be purchased in supermarkets, local markets and even some street vendors..They are very important if you suffer from bronchial problems or an asthmatic. The Pollution is really dangerous. The airborne pollution particles can trigger a bad asthma attack at anytime..
Always carry and use these particle masks
Carry extra inhalers for your asthma if you use them..
Also carry a small eye drops ..
Carry lots of small pocket packs of tissues..
