There seem to be occasional performances. This one was shortly after the New Year, and had been postponed from the night before when the electricity went out all over town. They aren't professional actors, but it's still interesting to watch.

If you need help while in town, or maybe to make reservations, the Tourist Service Center can probably help. We didn't speak with them, but they're right on the corner by the Zhaoxing Hotel. They seem to close fairly early, around 5 or 6, maybe a bit later.

It's not very long and there's not all that much to see- Zhaoxing's a pretty small village for China. But you can walk the main road in under 30 minutes. From my time there, I consider one end of the village to be the "uphill" side and one to be the "downhill" side. I'll refer to directions based on that. The uphill side of the village is named so because that's where we came in, descending from the mountains above. The downhill side continues down-mountain, if I remember correctly.

One whole day is definitely enough for have a look at Zhao Xing, unless you are an researcher about the minority. There are some interesting day trip place which you may go. Ji An Tang is one of them.

You can choose a village nearby as a destination. The nearest village is Jitang just 1.5km away. Another village to recommend is TangAn,an ecological and human cultural reserve sponsored by Norway which is 5~6km away.

This being a Dong village, the sign makes sense, though I'm not sure if it's a hair salon or if there's more to it. There's at least one hair salon in town.
