You are not alone
Very peculiar to China, and more so in Hainan. Regardless of whether you are shopping in a mall, or in shop, or in a boutique, you WILL have a shadow perpetually following your every step. Put it down to the zeal of these sales folks trying to convince you to make a purchase, or that they are simply being generous in spirit to offer their assistance, or they are simply afraid you might run off with the merchandise, but I felt it to be very oppressive to have someone tagging you everywhere, even when you are purchasing private items! It got to a point that I purposely walk round shelves to let them get the message.

LIVE AS THE NANSHAN (SOUTHERN MOUNTAIN)
"May you live as the NANSHAN (Southern Mountain)!"
It's a Chinese saying, using on birthday of senior men or women to show good will and get them pleasure.
When people come to Southern Mountain always take a shot and they feel like they can live longer. In picture, the red Chinese words on the big stone show the above saying.
Dancing from local minority nationality. Some people squat down, each hold two bamboo pole, and move them regularly and rapidly; the others – dancers must dance without being stumbled over bamboos.
It’s a kind of difficult dancing. Need skill.
What's "land sickness"?
Of course you know some people will be sea sickness when they are on boats; but do you know there are some people who will be “land sickness” after landing from their boats?
There are “boater” in Hainan who live and work on their boats day and night and they do not like living on land. Their job is raising pearl.
