There is a Disney Ice Festival in a park in Daqing close to the hotel. It has a Disney characters scattered aroung the park, but the real interesting thing is the Ice Carving.
Teams from around the world get a chance to tackle an ice block and turn it into a work of art. The winner this year was a team from Thailand. Who would have thought Thais could survive north China in the winter, but they did and produced beautiful ice sculptures.
I went there during the day when the temperature was a balmy -11C. Nighttime temperatures reach -29C. This is too cold for me. Besides the cold, the 200 RMB admission at night (about $30), is a little too steep for me. I went during the day for 100 RMB. I think the price puts this on my ripoff list.
