Hongzhou Tourist Traps

You can hire a covered boat with a rower who will take you for a spin on the lake for what appears to be a set fee. It's a very pleasant way to spend an hour or so. Howeverm when you get back to shore you are likely to be told/shown a sign saying that there is an additional charge to pay.

Unique Suggestions: Fortunately we had a Mandarin speaking friend who engaged the vendor in a lot and apparently vulgar discussion of their respective parentages! I guess if you don't speak the language and don't have anyone with you who can - then it's probably easier to be prepared to pay the extra. It's still a nice boat ride!
