At the south side of Wenzhou Pedestrian Street, turn right and you're on FengGuang Lu, a road full of market sellers and the kind of shops that make China boom right now. All kids of souvenirs and niche products as well as mass-produced tut, cheaply sold clothes and bags, music shops, army store and the brilliant 2 Yuan shop! In Zhumadian, you need no other street. Most stuff can be found here, including a Western restaurant specialising in 'sizzler' style dishes (steak hotplates), as well as an abundance of rickshaws and taxis out. I'd love to pop back and see how a few of the newer developments are coming on.
A stroll down 'Walking Street' is as good as any way to spend a day in the city. I've seen a couple having a domestic, being conducted along the outside side of a second floor building, (as if spiderwoman herself had got the hump and decided to go for a climb), dog-fighting (yuk), not-to-mention the break dancers of Number One Studio, the bad-boys of the internet bars and nightclubs and all sorts of interesting streetfood.
