Wuhan Restaurants

Had lunch at this place which I think is a small chain in China. The menu is a bit "specialist" Chinese with dishes such as pigeon and duck feet and not much in the way of "normal" Chinese food. I had beef and mushroom slices with rice and a can of coke which cost Y36. Lovely interior with nice tables and chairs.

This place has some great cheap food. I had a good red Thai chicken curry, rice, potato waffles and a beer for Y40. The previous night, I popped in for a fancy ice cream for just Y10. The guy here speaks very good English and the menu is also in English.

if your trip is long and food seems unpalatable,Chopsticks do need to get the martial art training to be effectively used,try the Barbeque, it was the staff of the Holiday inn Riverside{there are 2 in Wuhan}.suggest i try the Barbeque managed by a family of 4 person ,the eversmiling son,the raw food to be bbqed is displayed on the table,so u need not speak or have to read Chinese.select the type of food ,there are vegetables,mushrooms,fish is live in tank only cut when you order,pork,beef steak,yumm! the spices are added as per your taste.
well its a welcome change from the everyday Dimsuns,and sushi,try it your wallet will weigh the same post the wholesome meal.beer is aplenty and cheap my meals were 6 to 8 Yaun Or RMBs.

This restaurant has amazing authentic hawaiian food. It also has a great selection of Mexican food, shakes, and other diner favorites.

Favorite Dish: My things to get are the Chicken Tortilla soup which has an amazing broth and the perfect blend of chicken, cheese, crunchy tortilla chips, and sour cream and the Chicken Katsu Salad - a huge salad with breaded fried chicken breast, crisp green lettuce, crutons, cucumber, and carrots served with the house dressing and special chicken katsu sauce.

This is not a restaurant, this is a street with many small restaurants and food stalls serving all kinds of Chinese breakfast food all day long. Walking thru this street, you will be able to see and taste all kinds of Chinese breakfast foods.
The food there is extremely cheap, however the sanitation is not great either. I went there three times during my stay in Wuhan and ate whatever I liked without having any problem.

This restaurant belongs to Baotong Temple so only vegetarian food is served there. However the food has been made looks like chicken wing, meat and it's very tasty. You don't have to be vegetarian to be there, it's a great place to try.

In every city of China which I visited you have the chance to eat Hot Pot. And everywhere the local friends asked me to go there. So, it must be very popular to eat Hot Pot.

Favorite Dish: What is Hot Pot? As you can see, in front of you there is a pot with hot water. At that evening we ordered chicken and vegetables. But you also could order fish (as the people sitting next to us) or any other meat.
You have some kind of sauces which you can mix in the way you want. I think, no need to explain more... just take a try if you have the chance. And if you are with local people, you will have that chance.

I always miss the food in Wuhan, very very cheap and very very tasty. 2 yuan you can get a delicious meal on the street . but do be careful if they are not all that sanitary. They are all become my memory.

At about 7:30 to 9:00 in Wuhan the downtown streets were crowded with vendors cooking and serving breakfast. There were many kinds from noodles to onion pancakes. I was most surprised though when I had my first view of Fry Bread! I know fry bread as a Native American dish served at Pow Wows. I have even made it at home. Yummy with honey, jam and sugar. I am no longer shocked to see it in China. I have even had it in Beijing and Yantai at street breakfast places served with a bowl of soy milk. You can also see it on some VTers' Arizona and New Mexico pages as Navajo Tacos.

Wuhan is famous for two vegetarian restaurants. One is Taoist and the other is vegetarian. I haven't been to the Buddhist one yet but the Taoist restaurant is fantastic. The dishes all have your standard Chinese meat dish names. They do an amazing job of mimicing the taste and flavor of the traditional dishes.
I have been there twice.

Favorite Dish: Doesn't the Roasted Duck look like the real thing? And there isn't a drop of animal product used in the kitchen. I recommend giving it a try. The tea is a Taoist medicinal blend and you can buy it in bags from the restaurant. A few doors down is the Temple which is old and very interesting. They have a shop that sells things with Taoist motifs. If you like the Yin Yang symbol they have the cups and dishes used in the restaurant.
