River view of Xiangyang

The city of Xiangyang is built on both sides of the river, and therefore river view is unavoidable, you have to, because you have no choice, unless you want to stay inside your hotel the whole day without coming out.

The river view is not too bad to look at actually, some part of the river are quite attractive to me, especially with the ancient wall as background and some high rise towers.

In front of the railway station, take a public bus #1, #13 and #14 to Tthe Ancient town of Xiangyang. This is a pedestrian street with mostly teenagers shops, fashions and some restaurants. The other end of the street is a very nice view of the river, with the ancient wall along it, walking up the wall taking photos is a good idea.

Zhuge-Liang is a man who lived in ancient China some 2000 years ago, and imagine after such a long time peoples came from far to visit his former residence in Longzhong, yet paying 63yuan of entrance ticket, the purpose is to look at his former residence, taking photos and build tips.

Not only that, he now has a huge towering bronze statue in Xiangyang, I just visited his Zhuge-Liang Square in Xiangyang.

Zhuge-Liang Square is the latest newly built modern city in Xiangyang, everything is new and the land area is huge. Tourists who want to snap photos, this is wow.....the best of Xiangyang, trust me.

This is recommended by by the lady boss owner of the hotel I stayed, when I asked where is the bustling shopping area in town, she replied immediately "Go to Zhuge-Liang Square, pay 6 yuan taxi...".

Absolutely modern and new, less populated, very clean, very comfortable, big shopping malls with big luxury restaurants..... and perfect for photo shooting.

Bus 512 to LongZhong

Take Bus 512 to LongZhong (also called Gu LongZhong), the location of bus stand is right in front of the railway station of XiangYang. Charges for each passenger is 1 yuan only, roughly 1 hour, and approx 15km in distance.

LongZhong is the home of Mr,WoLong also known as Zhuge Liang. the exact Location of LongZhong is roughly 15km distance from Xiangyang, at the hillside. LongZhong is where he used to live and study.

Entrance ticket of LongZhong is 63 yuan per adult and 100 for an optional tour guide.

(*This tip is built on the spot)

Going to downtown for a mad shopping can also take bus 512, but be warned mid-way getting on/off the bus is like sardine fishes, all squeezed together.

Meat, Vege, Rice & Beer for a dinner would cost you roughly 20 yuan as shown in the first image I uploaded. This type of meal is not easy for tourist who are not speaking Chinese because you need to read the menu at least. For me is very easy because I speak, read and write Chinese.

The foods that I like most are Meat, Vege, Rice & Beer, these are the most common and the most local foods.

Bus to Wuhan & Wudang Mountain

Xiangyang bus station

Opposite the main railway station, you can see a KFC restaurant (in Chinese wordings only but you can still recognize the logo of that old colonel guy), walk straight ahead the road at left of KFC, approx 3-5 minustes (depends on your walking speed), you can see a few small buses parked at the roadside with many guys approaching you, ignore this one because they are not the main station yet, you should walk another 200 meters, you will see a big building as shown in the images I uploaded, this is the Central Bus Station of Xiangyang.

Central Bus Station of Xiangyang is one of the many bus station in Xiangyang (I not sure how many in total), over here you can buy tickets to Wudang Mountain (ShiYan) in mid-size buses, to Wuhan, to Changsha, to Zhengzhou and many more. Most of the buses here in Xiangyang are mid-size buses because they travel into deep hilly villages. The ones to Wuhan and other bigger cities are big new buses.

In my past experience, mid-size buses are a huge problem, some are very dirty with rubbish all over, yet they allow free smoking and free spitting inside the bus, some are overly loaded plus they take in as many passengers as possible along the way. Please imagine all of these things happening together.

See the third photo is my big bus (double decker) to Wuhan (stop at Hankou City Bus Station) cost 60 Yuan, 4 and half hours.

contact numbers

Discovered accidentally these contacts inside the toilet of the bus station of Xiangyang.

I saw inside the toilet door so much of handwritten phone numbers. At first glance I thought it was some kind of vandalism by kids, after a while of squatting, on second look I can read clearly every words written and also the meaning of those wordings.

Zebra crossing in China is a different concept
l_joo profile photo
l_joo 2924 reviews

I suddenly realized the meaning of "different concept".

Zebra crossing in China is a different concept than Zebra crossing in my country and maybe the world. Take a look at the 2 photos I uploaded, notice the green light is ON. Vehicles over here (and in other parts of China) never stop at Zebra crossing and also never stop at Zebra crossing when the green light is ON.

After many attempts I finally understand the "Philosophy of Zebra crossing" or maybe I should call it "The Secret of Zebra crossing in China".

"The Secret of Zebra crossing in China" is very simple and easy actually, pedestrians can walk on the Zebra crossing anytime they want, best when the green light is ON, which means red light is OK too. Reduce your walking speed when you see too many vehicles coming at you on high speed, let them get pass you first, after that you keep walking until you crossed the road. Which means vehicles are aware of pedestrians while at the same time pedestrians are aware the vehicles.
