Favorite thing: Going on a cruise of the Yangzi definitely is a fabulous way of experiencing this impressive river!
Going upstream from Shanghai to Chongqing takes about 9 - 10 days including off shore excursions to places like Nanjing, the fabulous Huang Shan, Wuhan, the lesser three gorges just to name a few!
Many cruises start in Wuhan or even a little north of Wuhan and show you the absolute highlights within 3 days, but if time permits, I would suggest the full tour and I would suggest going upstream, too!

The scenery here was so spectacular we had a tough time deciding which pictures to take . The hills rose straight up from the rivers edge with majestic peaks. It was breathtaking.
