Favorite thing: The Chinese website (http://www.ctgpc.com.cn/) has a status indicator. It's not real time, but it does provide the latest information on what is happening.
At the bottom of the left-hand colum on the page, there are four figures. In roder, these figures are:
Water flow through the Three Gorges Dam (in cubic metres per second)
Water flow through the Gezhouba Dam (in cubic metres per second).
The column on the right shows the day/month/time of each recording.
Water level of the Three Gorges Dam (metres above sea level)
Water level in the Yangtze River *below* Gezhouba Dam (metres above sea level)

Favorite thing: This guy here was the leader of the pack of kids that followed us around all afternoon. He had such a power about himself that I'm sure by now he is a man of power somewhere in the area!! When he spoke all of the other children listened. So when the kids where getting too loud we motioned to him and he would bring the decible level back down. There was something about having so many screaming kids follow us around that made me feel funny to have all the elders stop and stare at us...LOL

Favorite thing: Meeting up with the kids was my favorite thing I did in Yichang. It made for an interesting day. I felt like the the Pied Piper! To have these kids follow us around so cool. It would've been great if we could have spoken more of the local language.

Favorite thing: These guys were just enjoying the scenery and chatting away down the Yangtze River! There wasn't a whole lot to do but chat, sleep, eat and enjoy the scenery!! Which I guess is what the trip was all about.

Favorite thing: Going through the gouges is pretty exciting! You just hope the skipper of the boat knows what he is doing as you get going quite fast through the gourges! I think this is already a thing of the past as the biggest Dam project in the world is going on in the area! I've read recently that the first cruise ships have made the first runs through the brand new locks!!

Yichang was the end of my cruise on Chiang Jiang (Yangzi) River. What a better way to end the tour to the Three Gorges than by seeing the actual dam construction sight itself. There are several buses...
