This is where chinese and foreigners alike go to enjoy drinks and dancing. There are many clubs on this street, all of them have similar music and themes. The clubs are slightly expensive, but much cheaper than most european clubs. Most of the clubs are open until late, but it's common for certain clubs to empty out before 2am. The music is mostly english, although there is a little chinese music and live performers at most clubs. The DJ's are very good at most clubs, and normally play music that can be found in most western clubs. Generally there isn't much space to dance as there is small tables everywhere, but you can take to the stages if you wish to bust a move ;) On the whole, its a way to enjoy the night. After all that clubbing, there is a 24h KFC and McDonalds. Food on the street is also very tasty and quite cheap.

For expats and Chinese friends who have been looking for a real coffeeshop in Changsha...it is here!
I'm an American who's opened a American-style coffeeshop
called The Fifth Tone in Changsha, Hunan, China. It has real coffee drinks
and homemade desserts like brownies and banana bread.
The Fifth Tone is a local hangout for foreigners and Chinese friends alike
and has become an awesome platform for great coffee and cross-cultural
communication!
Every Tuesday night there is English Corner, and we have live music on Friday nights.
We are open Monday thru Saturday, 2pm-10pm.
The Fifth Tone is located on Changsha's West Side, XinMin Road, Shimenlou Street #3. Telephone: 0731-88805303
After crossing the middle bridge to the west side, take a left onto Lushan Road. Take a left at the first light onto Xinmin Road. Halfway down the street on your left is a small street called Shimenlou street. The cafe is the third storefront on the left!

This is not the type of place I expected in China. There are two main rooms, the show room and the dance room. In the show room there are singers and dancers, drag queens, pole dancers and a variety of other entertainment. Apparently the DJ makes fairly racy comments, but I can't understand it. The dance part is pretty standard dance club, although there are so many tables, the dance floor is smaller than I would like. Entrance is free, but drinks can get pricey. There are a lot of foreigners that go there, and work there, so there are bartenders that speak English. The Chinese name for it is Mei Li Si Shi.

This bar is run by an American so tends to attract a large foreign and English speaking crowd. They have a good selection of import beers also. Its a very friendly place.
