Getting tickets for the Hunan Provincial Museum can be very difficult as I found out. I first tried to get in at 2pm one afternoon only to be told that all of the 5,000 allotted tickets for that day had already gone and to come back the following day. So, the following day, I arrived early at 8am only to find a huge queue that was about twice as long as it was the day before so I gave up. This is a very good and, therefore, very popular museum so good luck in trying to get a ticket!
