You may be skeptical of a Russian, Mongolian, and Chinese dance dinner show, but this one's actually worth the little extra. It's Y60 a person for dinner and entertainment. We had low expectations for dinner, but it actually turned out to be quite good. The food was mostly Russian, with a bit of Chinese influence. Be sure to reserve early as the show fills up. While you eat you can watch energetic Russian and Mongolian dancing as well as Chinese folk songs. If you have an evening free, this is a great way to spend it.

Let's Go gives Hulun Lake a thumbs up, saying "For those seeking wild beauty, tourist-free open spaces, and pink quartz-like rocks for souvenirs, the lake is very much worth the long journey." Er....not quite. If you like groady lakes filled with middle aged men in speedos and overpriced restaurants, then this lake is for you. Otherwise, skip a walk along the lake and instead walk along the grasslands surrounding it.
Unique Suggestions: Take a walk in the grasslands -around- the lake. There's no one there and it's a lot prettier than the junky beach.

there is a large sino-russo exchange market near the nation's gate. i expected to buy some russian goods, such as camera, lens, artcraft... eventually, i was dissappointed. no russian seller inside, only buyer. some russian suvenior stores sell so-called russian stuffs. i think they are made in china.

Favorite thing: All the guidebooks say go to Manzhouli to see the grasslands. Don't. Go to Manzhouli to see the Russian influence and the friendly, Russian speaking Chinese people. If you want to see the Hulun Buir Grasslands, go to Manzhouli's neighbor Hailar and see the beautiful grasslands from there.
