Steamed Crab

During the autumn time(from Sep to Nov), the local people have the custom to eat the river crab.

The best crab is breeded in a lake called Yang Cheng Hu, located in the city of Kunshan where is not far from Shanghai.

Waterside Pavilions..

Waterside pavillions are built near the water to enable visitors to view and enjoy the scenery.During the Warring States Period,an open structure built on a terrace was called a pavillion.Because the Chinese character for pavillion is similar to the Chinese character for shoot,a pavillion has both a military and a sightseeing context.
In the literature of the Qin and Han Dynasties, there were records of "high pavillions and beautiful palaces"and "tiers upon tiers of terraces and pavillions".
After the Han Dynasty, pavillions were built near water and gardens, and they became structure in which people could rest.
A waterside pavillion is a simple,one-storey structure that sticks out of a slope and is supported over a patch of water by poles. It is open on four sides and with rails or seats on the side facing the water.

Washing hung up on tree at the foot of the bridge

It was very interesting to read about the controversy about the Nanjing Bridge and the documentary made by the Italian filmmaker Antonioni in relation to the filming of the bridge and people's washing lines.

What was the first thing I saw at the foot of the bridge as we went to walk up on it but washing hung out in the middle of the busy road on a tree leading to the bridge.

Where the owner was who knows but there it was. Bit poetic/ironic given the history of the bridge don't you think? ...and I am not making this up!!

No THATS a scary thought!

Saw this as I was about to go up the escalator, so just HAD to take a photo! I wasnt too sure if this was a spelling mistake or whether it really was a floor of men's ***e, so i quickly opted out of going up!!!!

I might not have been lucky enough to come back down!!!!

Lucky old conk!

For the average person learning English, I doubt this would be in the exercise book. it made me laugh how the Chinese use certain translations for things which we wouldnt dream of using!

Question..who comes up with these translations, and how much do they get paid?!!!!

Just realised the picture hasnt come out well.It says on the packet 'Herbal Conk Mask'!

On the way back, I see several elder men playing the diabolo on the grass ground. Diabolo is a traditional sports game for locals.

Visit a silk-embroidery factory. Here, everything is done by hands & feet. Interesting to observe how the ancient method has been preserved & still in use to this date.
