The Pan Men Scenic Area is considered one of the most important attractions in Suzhou but for me it was much to do about nothing. It is essentially a large pond surrounded by over restored or rebuilt pavilions that have been turned into souvenir shops.

Unique Suggestions: The complex grounds have two historical attractions of note of which I have provided separate tips, the Ruiguang Pagoda and the Pan Men Gate. Kids also seem to have a great time feeding the large schools of goldfish.

The Humble Administrator's Garden in Suzhou is usually far too busy to be enjoyable. It is also the priciest (see alternatives below).

Fun Alternatives: Visit Tiger Hill or Lingering Garden instead.
