There's a small family-owned restaurant across from the Humble Administrator's Garden called Ya Du. Beware of the old woman who runs this restaurant. Our family went to have lunch in this establishment. After we ordered our food, she asked us if we would like to have LongJin Tea. We asked her how much the tea will be (in Mandarin) and she pretended not to understand the question. After a few minutes of her playing dumb, we decided to go with her suggestion. Each of us received a small cup of watered-down tea. When the bill arrived, we were shocked that she charged 25RMB per cup. When we protested, she claimed that the 'manager' set the price. By then, she was lucid and communicative. The money is not the issue. It was the deception from this old woman that left a bitter taste in an otherwise wonderful visit to Suzhou.
