Owing to its typical terrain, Tuisi Yuan (Tuisi Garden) is laid out horizontally instead of vertically. From west to east, the left section contains houses, the middle pavillions, and the right gardens. Small as Tuisi Garden is, it is typical of a landscaped garden for all the architecture of Chinese garden such as pavillions, platforms, towers, halls, bridges, houses, and corridors can be found there since all the contructions are built on or near water. The garden is also reknowned as Tieshuiyuan (Garden Close To Water). (see travelogue for photos, text will be added later, Sun 2002-Mar-10).
This garden is located in the centre of the old town. It is a small garden courtyard that is surrounded by a museum and hotel and was only opened in 2004.
Near the center of Tongli, you can get dressed up as Emperor or Empress of China, or a virginal bride and have your picture taken.
Why wouldn't anyone want to do that?
