Mexcott Bowling: Bowling with friends
This could be as well in the sports section, but it happens to be a nice tip when you live in a city with temperatures below -20C (-5F) in the winter.
There's not much to do... and an evening of bowling seems to be at least "warming".

Mayflower: Nightlife guaranted
Nice spot, live music until 24h00, afterwards disco music.
On april, may 2004 two bands are playing: a chinese-philipine and a colombian band.
Normally crowded on weekends, a little less on weekdays.
Dress Code: No dress code... be yourself.
Nanhu Dalu Bridge: Green Avenue
Nanhu Dalu is a large avenue in Changchun.
After the last renovation, this avenue has got some improvements: at night it gets all lighted up in green.
It also crosses the Nanhu (South Lake)... on its bridge at the evenings chinese couples can be seen there spending their time together admiring the city skyline or the moon reflections on the lake.
Needs Bar: Live Music and not crowded...
Needs is a relatively new house in town, where most of the foreigners can be met.
A band from Philippines is always on stage, and fun is guaranteed. But be aware that sometimes customers are invited to show their musical aptitudes on stage as well...

Amigo Bar: Meet your friends at...
Amigo Bar is one of the newest attractions in Changchun night life.
Nice place, but it is too loud if you want meet friends for a conversation.
If you want to dance, this is one of the good places in town.
[None]: Cluster of bars
Around the back of the International Hotel, opposite the Shangri La Hotel, are a few bars. Most have friendly waitresses, good Chinese music and cheap beer.
One (can't remember the name, but in the street right behind the International) has live music most nights.
Ferry Port Bar 渡口酒吧: Live music and film posters
The Ferry Port Bar is a local neighborhood bar in the Guilin Lu area. The decor is pretty interesting--some of the walls are covered in small film posters ranging from your usual Hollywood films to more obscure, independent films. Towards the front of the bar the tables have swings suspended on ropes.
This is a pretty good place to grab a mug of draft beer (8 RMB) or a glass of red wine (12 RMB) and chat with friends. Currently there is a charming two girl house band on guitar and bongos singing Chinese songs and playing most nights.

San Marco Bar: Have a Corona, enjoy the band
The San Marco bar became my goto spot after the Mayflower closed for renovations. The friendly, talented Phillipine band played music that got the crowd on its feet and even allowed an amateur like myself to join them for a song. The staff was friendly(after my departure I still exchange emails with several of them) and responsive. It is definitely a spot where you can mix with many of the foreigners that are in town for business.
