Ji'an is on Yalu River on the border with North Korea, so pop over there if you want to get some free potshots at (or snapshots of) the North Korean border.
Other places in China for the same purpose would be Dandong (perhaps the most well-known) and perhaps Tumen (unadvisable to be out after dark).

In case anyone is interested in seeing one of the local wet markets, we found one on a side street running east from Dongsheng Jie, east side of Guo Nei City Park.

Guo Nei City Park is a good place to go and see local people and kids having simple fun like sliding down on their butts (with plastic bags under them) from the piles of snow.
