Favorite thing: The first beach on the Binhai Lu is the Bangchuidao Beach. If you come from the Dong hai park. It was a wunderful beach but unfortunately it was the last day in Dalian. We still had some places to visit, otherwise I would have spend some hours at that beach.

Favorite thing: policewomen. Was it my fault if the weather was bad whenever I wanted to take photos from that square. Or if I had the wrong camera with me? No, it was just a COINCIDENCE that I went to Dalian's only square with Policewomen that often.

Favorite thing: The most important square in Dalian is the 120, 000 square meters People's Square or Renmin Square. Dalian's most administrative buildings like the municipal government in the north are at that square. The former name of that square is Stalin Square. You see, there was a good relationship with the Russian...
I liked to go to that square, no only because of...

Favorite thing: Unfortunetely I didnt visit that park in the night, we just passed the ´Labor Park. At that time we were on the way to somewhere else. At the next day we went to that park and after we entered it, I saw what I missed.
There were built many scenes of chinese history and cultures. (later I will publish some photos in my travelogue.)
That Park is at the foot of the Lushan Mountain. Besides rare flower there are pavilions, terraces and a more to see. For sure, a great place to relax.

Favorite thing: Also called Hai Zhiyun Square.
One of my favorite area in Dalian. As I remember it costs around 40 RMB to enter that park but its worth to visit. There are a collection of old ships, nice scuptures, a pool with seals,...
As I wrote in my transportation tips, I took the tram to get there. From this park we took a taxi for the Binhai Lu.

Favorite thing: Youhao Square or Friendship Square is located between Renmin Square and Zhongshan Square, which is the business center zone in Dalian.
In the night you will be impressed by the colourful light of the big, jewelly crystal ball. This ball is in the center of that square which is smaller than the other squares.
Anyway, if you are not too far way you should go for a walk to the Youhao Square. The best time: In the dark to see the beautiful light of the crystal ball.

Favorite thing: The Xinghai Square was the first square we visited after we arrived in Dalian. It was in the evening and almost no people. And more surprising, almost no traffic.
At the weekend there is a lot of traffic. At least when we were there. All the time you can see the biggest and most expensive cars with wedding couples inside
In my Nightlife tip you can see a photo of an iron sports sculpture. One of about 30 different.
The Xinghai Square is the biggest square in Dalian.

Favorite thing: Pictured here is a close-up of Elva's very cool shoe...! Elva is very fond of fashion, and in fact, many Chinese girls have a very creative and funky fashion sense... Most Chinese clothes are made in China, often by designers who give the clothes a unique and original touch...! The girls always dress so cute...!

Fondest memory: "Manchuria" is one of those names that suggests a place that Bob Hope and Bing Crosby should have traveled in one of their "road movies"... For Westerners, the word is instantly evocative of the exotic orient of the ancient past... A place from whence came the "yellow peril" of the "insidious Dr. Fu Manchu", or his evil descendents, Ming the Merciless, and the Mandarin with his Makluan rings... Of course, this Manchuria doesn't exist, it was only conjured up in ridiculous tales of propaganda...
According to the BBC, Raymond Chandler once asked Ian Fleming why there is always a torture scene in every James Bond book. Fleming replied: "Well, you see, I suppose I was brought up on Dr. Fu Manchu and thrillers of that kind."
Words like "Manchuria" carry terrific meaning in the depths of the mind... The real Manchuria was much much different, but no less fascinating...

Favorite thing: The locals told me that Dalian has the best beaches in China. In summer, the beaches will be "open" for swimming.
Note that there will be an entrance fee to enter the beach.
There is one beach that I went in Spring (not for swimming) that do not need entrance fee. It is at "Bei Da Qiao", where many wedding photographers and couples go for outdoor shoots by the beach on the rocks. It is quite a nice place though.
