Actually this is a kind of snack from South China. There is a beautiful story about Guo Qiao Mi Xian.
Once in Yun Nan provice, there is a pretty girl loves a poor scholar. The girl's family is against she and the poor scholar. But the girl still loves the poor scholar and insists on bringing meal to him. One day, when she passed the bridge, she slipped up and then vegetables and meat on her hand just slipped into the boiled noddle pot. Then the girl tasted and thought very delicious. After that, this kind of noddle is call Guo Qiao Mi Xian. Guo Qiao means 'pass a bridge'. Mi Xian means ' rice noddle'.

This is a kind of spcial sock in China. Normally it is made by hawkthorns. Outside the Hawkthorns is sugar candy. When you eat, you can feel sour and sweet at the same time. Sounds spcial, isn't it?
Now there are many fruits instead of Hawkthorns, like strawberry, banana, grape, yam( this is my favourite), Chinese goosebeery... many kinds of if u can image ^o^

This chain restaurant seems to be quite popular. I went to the 298th branch in Dalian. There are lotsa waiter and waitresses to serve you. You can choose between steamboat (huo guo) or ala carte (chao chai).
Favorite Dish: We tried the "qing tang" steamboat which is very nice. You can order vegetables, meat, seafood for the steamboat. And there are a few types of broth to choose from. The "yang rou" (lamb) is superb! The lamb are sliced thinly and cooked in the tasty boiling water in front of you, and the lamb are said to be imported from "nei meng" (Inner Mongolia). yummy... The thinly sliced lamb is juicy, tender and simply delicious.
Perhaps we will go there again to try the " ri ben fei niu rou" (Japanese fatty beef) - sounds and looks like Kobe beef to me.
For the soup, they also have "ma la tang" (super spicy soup). I dare not try it just in case too spicy for my tongue!
I like steamboat as I can cook whatever I want myself. Just add whatever you like into the boiling broth and then fishing it out from the broth, if you can find it. ;-)

After giving your stomach a chance to adjust to the new environment, try this very popular vendors - just make sure the food is cooked in front of you.
Some are there all day but most come out during the evening.
You will find them most commonly outside the big stores like Carrefour, Walmart and any other venue where something is happening that day
Favorite Dish: - BBQ kebobs - almost always lamb or squid, they sprinkle cumin and cayenne on them.
Some places you eat them there as they serve them on metal skewers that they want back, others use wooden skewers.
- Candies fruit on a stick - yum
- Crepe pancake - with an egg, green onions and optional hot dog cooked and then rolled up into a little bundle - not bad
- Hard to find, but I got addicted - (jaw gee leo)
- a small bag of deep fried, thin strips of chicken sprinkled with cumin and cayenne. There is a stall just outside the Beijing Street Market one block up from Huang He Lu
- Avoid the corn on the cob, after sitting, it becomes very starchy tasting
